Stemming from Galician heritage, Lua Ribeira’s work deals with dynamics of oppression and the mechanisms of exclusion implied by dominant culture. Her practice is characterised by its collaborative nature, extensive research and an immersive approach to her subject matter. She is interested in using the photographic medium as a means to create encounters that establish relationships and question structural separations between people. Lua is represented by the renowned Magnum Photos.

This decentralised approach to commissioning recognises the regional expertise of our Arts Partners, who will exhibit these photographers’ collections through 2024-25.

Yvette is a research-based photographer and artist from Ireland. Her current practice explores intuition, narrative and transcendence, through images that reflect our inner worlds and outer spaces.

Sophie is an award-winning Scottish artist. Her photography practice is characterised by sensitive, evocative exploration of the landscape and our relationship to it.
Jon Tonks
Jon’s work tells stories about lives shaped by history and geography. In 2014, he won the Vic Odden Award from the Royal Photographic Society for his first book, Empire – exploring four remote British Overseas Territories – and has since documented UK pubs, migrant communities and industrial heritage.
Johannes Pretorius
Johannes is a South African photographer based in Northern England. He is interested in the relationship between people and place, taking observational photographs informed by relevant research.
Johannah Churchill
Johannah is a portrait and documentary photographer based in the north east. Her work centres around people and social issues – connection, loss, illness and isolation are frequently referenced and often interwoven with her history as a nurse.
Ayesha Jones
Ayesha is an award-winning artist and producer in the West Midlands, working with photography and film. She is proudly mixed heritage, neurodiverse and has scoliosis/spinal fusion. Ayesha draws on these lived experiences in her work, believing art to be a catalyst for growth, healing and social impact.
Arpita Shah
Arpita works with photography and film to explore the intersections of culture and identity. Having lived between India, Ireland and the Middle East before settling in the UK, her migratory experience is reflected in her practice.
Aaron Schuman
Aaron is an American photographer, writer, curator and educator based in the UK. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Tate Modern, Hauser & Wirth, and Christie’s.
Andy Pilsbury
With a strong focus on subcultures, lost arts and the edge-lands of modern life, Andy’s immersive approach enables him to dig deep and tell stories that matter. He has collaborated with subjects as diverse as bikers, activists and farmers, getting under the skin of contemporary life in the UK.
